    For many of the more than 15,000 kids who attend Virginia 4-H camp each year, the experience can be life-changing. Ninety percent of camp volunteers are former campers who want to pay it forward to help other kids have the best summer camp experience of their lives.

    Each summer, the Virginia Cooperative Extension 4-H Education Center at Smith Mountain Lake hosts hundreds of campers. Sixty percent of Martinsville and Henry County campers attend on scholarship. Ninety percent of camp volunteers are former campers who want to pay it forward to help these kids have the best summer camp experience of their lives.
