    Drew Doyle enlisted in the U.S. Navy right out of high school and spent five years there before arriving in Blacksburg. Now, the 24-year-old redshirt freshman is working toward his degree while also playing on the football team and using his maturity and what he learned from his past experiences to help the team's younger players.

    Former baseball standout Chad Pinder thought about becoming an agent after retiring from Major League Baseball. He once gave graduate school a try. But a chance meeting with a Chicago White Sox executive led to him spending the summer as a minor league baseball manager, providing him with a great experience in a sport that he loves.
